A Brief History of ISKCON Temple

Proximity form different points:

  • It is just 12 kms away from the airport and takes just 20 min to 25 min to reach it.
  • And the temple is just 1.5 kms away from the Central railway station and hardly takes 5 min to reach !
  • And there are multiple bus travels in a radius of 200 meters to any city from the temple.
  • The nearest is the auto stand at 100 mts near Sharada Vidyalaya.

Youth Program

They have special orientation programs for guiding the youth in their day to day life. They have interactive brain storming sessions on topics relevant to students. The inmates of the temple are well educated . A unique group has been formed named “FOLK- Friends of Lord Krishna” for the youth where students from Medical,engineering fields meet regularly in the temple and in colleges to understand the science of Krishna conscious philosophy.

They also conduct Personality Development programs for the college students dealing with the current major issues like Stress Management, Goal Setting, Power of Choice, Power of Habits, Time Management, Building Self Confidence, Yoga Series Etc.

Akshaya Patra-The Mid-day meal program for underprivileged children

  • Akshay Patra is a stragetic program to address two of the most important needs of the society:hunger and education.
  • The Akshaya Patra Foundation currently provides 1,689,871 hygienic and nutritious meals to underprivileged school children everyday in 13210 schools in 26 locations across 11 states of India.

Vision Statement

”No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.”

What is unique about The Akshaya Patra Mid-Day Meal Program:

  • Strategic initiative to address the crucial and inter-linked issues: hunger & illiteracy.
  • Wholesome, nutritious three item menu, prepared in stringent hygienic conditions, as per dietician’s recommendations

Akshaya Patra in Mangalore

The Akshaya Patra Foundation has been spreading its wings since inception and it has extended this work of great social impact to underprivileged children in Mangalore, with a pilot run of feeding 250 children each day. The Program was inaugurated on January 1, 2005, in Mangalore.

The programme is serving mid-day meals to over 17,034 children in 139 government schools every single day of the school in Mangalore rural and city as of date.

Today TAPF, MLR has served more than 35 million or 3.5 crore meals to the coastal district government school children
